Evoked Potential (EP): It reads the electrical activity from the brain, spinal nerves, or sensory receptors in response to external stimuli. A combination of hi-tech hardware and software enables the doctors to determine the functional state of these pathways. This test is usually performed during spine surgery to help the surgeon make sure that nerves are not damaged during the operation.
Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM): This is a recording of signals from various areas of the nervous system during surgery. It monitors the nervous system pathways at risk for ischemia, mechanical or other injuries during surgery and enables surgeons to take corrective actions.
