NEUROLOGY & NEUROSURGERY

Neurology tackles all issues related to the functioning of the most critical part of our body - the brain. While neuro diagnostic techniques help to identify the problems of the brain, neurologists and neurosurgeons take corrective measures to treat and manage the patient.

Neuro diagnostics

Electroencephalograph (EEG): This device records the brain's electrical activity and reproduces it on a paper or on a computer screen. It is done for a variety of medical reasons, including evaluation of seizure disorders.

Electromyography (EMG): This is a test for evaluating and recording the electrical activity produced by skeletal muscles. It is used as a diagnostics tool for identifying neuromuscular diseases, assessing low-back pain, kinesiology, and disorders of motor control.

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging): It uses powerful magnetic currents to determine the blood flow and the activities in different regions of the brain. Jupiter Hospital has one of the finest MRI scanners on the globe with a 3T 32-channel machine.

CT Scan: Brain CT scan enables the doctors to detect the presence of physical abnormalities or tumours in the brain

Evoked Potential (EP): It reads the electrical activity from the brain, spinal nerves, or sensory receptors in response to external stimuli. A combination of hi-tech hardware and software enables the doctors to determine the functional state of these pathways. This test is usually performed during spine surgery to help the surgeon make sure that nerves are not damaged during the operation.

Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM): This is a recording of signals from various areas of the nervous system during surgery. It monitors the nervous system pathways at risk for ischemia, mechanical or other injuries during surgery and enables surgeons to take corrective actions.

Neuro ICU

Brain attack is as dangerous as heart attack. Here, the blood flow to the brain stops due to hemorrhage or blockage. This causes symptoms like severe headache, seizures, paralysis and fainting. Every minute without treatment causes the loss of up to 12 million brain cells. Our specially dedicated Neuro ICU, the first of its kind in the region, has the best in class neuroimaging equipments, backed by neurologists, neuro intensivits and neuro rehabilitation to take care of the patient.
