Eliminating cancer cells through radiation is called radiation oncology. The effectiveness of radiation is based on the equipment's ability to concentrate the maximum dose at the affected area while keeping the damage to the adjoining areas to the minimum.
At Jupiter Cancer Institute, we adopt a multi-disciplinary approach in radiotherapy treatment of the patients. The radiation oncologist is supported by a team of radiation physicist, radiation safety officer and radiation oncology technician.
The advanced treatment planning technology used by the specialized team helps to treat tumours effectively while minimizing side effects due to radiation treatment.
We are the first to introduce IGRT/IMRT radiotherapy treatment facility in Mumbai and Thane region, and the first to have 160-leaf MLC upgrade in Central India.

Cancer care for the economically challenged
Fighting cancer can be a daunting task for the economically challenged. Therefore, in association with Jupiter Foundation, we have dedicated a 21-bedded wing for the economically challenged patients.
The patients in this wing get highly subsidized rates for bed charges, OT charges, radiotherapy treatment, doctor charges, diagnostics, cath lab interventions - without any compromise on quality of treatment. The patient gets the same high-class treatment, which is offered to local and international patients. To avail this facility, the patient has to get in touch with the treating doctor or our social welfare division.
The emotional trauma faced by a cancer patient, during and after the treatment is immense. Our psychologist can work to put their mind at ease and help them cultivate a positive outlook so that they can fight cancer better.
Beyond the obvious
We recognize that cancer affects not just the patient but also the entire family in many ways: emotionally, socially, physically, psychologically and economically. Therefore, as a special initiative Jupiter Hospital offers drugs of Chemotherapy at a hugely subsidized rate at times even over 50-60% discount is offered on cancer drugs to ALL cancer patients (Rich, poor, indoor, outdoor and even patients of other hospitals). IGRT / IMRT for better cancer care: Our Radiation Oncology department has the best in class radiation equipment - Siemens Oncor Expression Linear Accelerator with 160 leaves MLC. We are also the first in Mumbai to have IGRT / IMRT (Image Guided Radiation Therapy / Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy) that allows the radiation to concentrate more accurately on the tumour and minimizes the damage to the adjoining healthy areas.
