Dr Punit Chhajed is a Pediatric Nephrologist & Kidney transplant physician trained in India & Canada. He is an alumnus of the premier Grant Medical College & Sir J.J Group of Hospitals, Mumbai and Member of the prestigious Royal College of Pediatrics & Child Health, London, UK.
He is a recognized expert in clinical pediatric nephrology & kidney transplantation and determined in delivering high quality, child & family centric, evidence-based clinical care in a team-based approach.
Besides his proficiency in all aspects of pediatric nephrology, Dr Chhajed is skilled in all forms of renal replacement therapy (dialysis in children), electrolyte and acid base disorders, hypertension, glomerulonephritis/ vasculitis, acute & chronic kidney disease, kidney transplantation in children and congenital (detected while the baby is in mother’s womb or present from birth) and genetic / hereditary kidney diseases. Dr Chhajed is also competent in doing kidney biopsies in children.
Throughout his career spanning over a decade, he has advocated and strived for a holistic management & development of young minds & bodies. He is enthusiastic in the promoting quality improvement, research and continuing medical education within the clinical service.

- Dr Chhajed has clinical experience of over a decade and has worked at multiple hospitals across Mumbai, Thane & Pune.
- He worked for 2 years at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada where his focus has been kidney transplantation in children.
- Dr Chhajed also worked for a brief period at the world’s biggest kidney hospital - Institute of Kidney Disease & Institute of Transplant Sciences (IKDRC-ITS), Ahmedabad, Gujarat to further his skills in pediatric nephrology & kidney transplantation.
- He has been instrumental in setting up services for children with kidney related ailments at H.B.T Medical College & Dr. R.N. Cooper Hospital, Mumbai.
- Dr Chhajed pioneered peritoneal dialysis & renal biopsy services for children at Dr R N Cooper Hospital, Mumbai and Bhaktivedanta Hospital, Thane.
